The more complex of the
challenges, the more is the central relevance of the general
physician. He is the most suited person to weather the storm and
guide the chaotic diagnostic boat to calm waters. This is what
Sasidharan seeks to do with the volume DOCTORS POCKET COMPANION. The
stiffer the challenge, the greater the need for the calming
influence of the general physician with his uncluttered mind. He is
the fit person to bring order into a confusingly disordered conflict
that can descend on a clinical situation.
Sasidharan does this exceedingly well. He owes his success to a
carefully handpicked band of contributors. He and his band of
professional teachers have done a splendid job against monumental
odds Sasidharan shows considerable finesse in his editorial work. I
cannot imagine a more difficult job than to beat into shape an
enormous amount of irregular and asymmetric teaching skills to a
homologous and smooth unit.
He cannot rest on his oars. Having achieved such a remarkable task,
he must proceed because that is one of the compulsions of success.
He is young and he is angry, both strong plus points. He must
control his impatience and his exasperation at the proponents of
“pseudo science”. We need more angry young men. Modern medicine
stands to gain a lot from Sasidharan’s campaign. The success of the
volume undoubted. It should help attract more professional teachers
to line up behind Sasidharan.
